# Sandeep Reddy Vanga calls Rajamouli’s Varanasi bigger than his Spirit 2026-08-26T13:57:26+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has called SS Rajamouli's Varanasi a bigger film than his own upcoming Spirit. At a press conference in Hyderabad promoting Romanchakam, Vanga was asked about Spirit releasing on March 5, 2027, a month before Varanasi in April. When a reporter described both as potential Rs 1,000 crore films, Vanga gestured no and said in Telugu: "That film is bigger." Vanga confirmed Spirit is on track with 65 days of shooting left and said the 37-day gap between releases is enough for both films to do business. He joked about shifting the date when pressed about a potential clash. Vanga also said Spirit will receive an 'A' certificate from the CBFC. Varanasi stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Spirit stars Prabhas, Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three sources report the same quotes and facts from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s press conference, but their framing reveals different editorial choices. Hindutst Times leads with Vanga calling SS Rajamouli's Varanasi a bigger film than his own Spirit, emphasising the one-month release gap and Vanga's joke about shifting dates, which frames the story around the competitive box-office dynamic. TeluguCinema plays down the comparison entirely, quoting Vanga as humbly refusing to see himself near Rajamouli and focusing instead on Spirit's production schedule and the director's transparency. Times of India is neutral, repeating the quotes without emphasis on either angle. The spread suggests no slant, but TeluguCinema's framing serves audience interest in project updates over confrontation. Spirit's March 5 release date remains the concrete watch item. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 2 neutral, 1 sensationalist - hindustantimes.com (sensationalist) Leads with Varanasi being bigger and the release gap drama - telugucinema.com (neutral report) Plays down comparison, focuses on Spirit's production and Vanga's humility - timesofindia.indiatimes.com (neutral report) Straight report of Vanga's quotes with no added framing This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
