The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Centre, the Bar Council of India and the CBI, seeking their responses on a plea for a probe into fake advocates, fraudulent law degrees, and persons linked to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana heard advocate Raja Choudhary's petition. The CJP emerged after Chief Justice Kant's remark during a May 15 hearing on fake advocates. The plea also alleges commercial exploitation of oral courtroom observations, with selectively edited clips turned into memes and monetised on social media.
