# Scotland, Netherlands oppose ICC’s 2027 World Cup format change

Cricket Scotland and the Royal Dutch Cricket Association have criticised the ICC for changing the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup format less than 18 months before the tournament. Under the new Super Series phase, teams ranked 12th, 13th and 14th in qualification will play a tri-series, with only the winner advancing to the next round. The 12 teams there will be split into two groups. The boards called the lack of communication disappointing and disrespectful, saying the changes reduce meaningful opportunities for Associate Members and create uncertainty for resource-limited organisations. They said they had met the ICC twice and sought written communication and greater clarity.
