SEBI will cut routine inspections of market intermediaries to one-third of last year's volume, adopting a risk-based model that targets high-risk players and eases compliance for well-governed entities. The overhaul, announced on Friday, uses expanded risk indicators including social media inputs and quarterly shortlisting. Separately, the regulator's FY26 annual report outlines plans for an AI-powered multilingual investor awareness campaign on WhatsApp, the nationwide Project Jagrook, the SEBI Setu portal for single-window clearance, a fast-track mechanism for AIF schemes, and a pilot to tokenise corporate bonds. Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the agenda focuses on simplifying regulations and deepening capital markets.
