The second Monday of the holy month of Sawan saw thousands of devotees offer prayers at Shiva temples across India. From Ujjain's Mahakaleshwar Temple to Mumbai's Babulnath and Assam's Krishnashram, worshippers performed Jalabhishek and rituals. The Free Press Journal reports that artists from Jhabua and Petlawad performed a traditional Bhagoria-style dance during the evening Mahakal Sawari procession in Ujjain. Earlier, the temple opened at 2:30 am for the Bhasma Aarti. The day also coincided with Som Pradosh, adding religious significance.
