# Shahnavaz Khan becomes first Indian man to win U20 long jump medal

Shahnavaz Khan won bronze in the men's long jump at the World Athletics U-20 Championships on Saturday in Oregon. He became the first Indian man to win a medal in the event at the tournament. His best leap of 7.84m fell well short of his personal best of 8.30m. India now has three medals at the championships. Ashish Yadav (javelin) and Basant Kumar Meghwal (high jump) won silver. Meghwal cleared a personal best of 2.21m to become India's first medalist in the high jump. Italy's Daniele Inzoli won gold with 7.97m, and Australia's Mason McGroder took silver with 7.96m.
