Windows were smashed and petrol bombs were thrown at former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan’s ancestral home in Magura on Wednesday, The Hindu and Rediff.com report. Police said the unoccupied property caught fire upstairs, with no injuries reported. The attackers have not been identified. The incident came hours after Shakib joined a virtual New Delhi event at which ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina vowed to return to Bangladesh. Shakib, a former Awami League lawmaker, has stayed outside the country since the 2024 student-led uprising and faces investigations into allegations including murder, fraud, embezzlement and money laundering. NDTV described the property as damaged and vandalised but did not independently confirm a bombing.
