# Shanghai cancels 1,300 flights, evacuates thousands as Typhoon Dolphin nears

Shanghai's two airports cancelled more than 1,300 flights on Sunday as Typhoon Dolphin approached China's eastern coast. Authorities evacuated nearly 390,000 people from Zhejiang's Taizhou city and over 30,000 from high-risk areas in Shanghai. The storm, with winds of 162 km/h, brought heavy rain to northern Taiwan on Saturday, cancelling some Taiwanese flights to China. China's weather bureau issued a red alert, warning of 200, 400 mm rainfall and severe landslides in Zhejiang. The typhoon is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang or Fujian late Sunday or early Monday.
