# Pakistan PM warns India: every drop of water is red line

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday warned India that 'every single drop' of Pakistan's water is a 'red line', threatening a 'direct response' if India does not 'come to the right path' over the Indus Waters Treaty. Speaking on the eve of Pakistan's Independence Day, Sharif accused India of being an 'enemy of peace' for suspending the treaty after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. He also claimed Pakistan defeated India during the May 2025 conflict. India has rejected that, saying the ceasefire was reached through direct communication. India's external affairs ministry has reiterated that the treaty stands in abeyance until Pakistan 'credibly and irrevocably' ends its sponsorship of cross-border terrorism.
