A group of Congress leaders and workers from different districts alleged that A.P. Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila Reddy was engaging in anti-party activities and ignored party workers and senior leaders who worked hard to revive the party in the State.
At a meeting of the party here on Monday, they petitioned senior party leader and former Union Minister Killi Kruparani, complaining about the injustice meted out at them by the APCC chief. Some alleged that they were not being allocated funds for undertaking party activities and were being forced to spend from their own money. They said they were keeping the matter to themselves to prevent confusion among the public.
AICC member and former working president of APCC Sunkara Padmasree said she has written a letter to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on the anti-party activities of Ms. Sharmila. She alleged that Ms. Sharmila was not interested in strengthening the party in the State but was only interested in settling family disputes with her brother and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. She was aligning with the TDP and other NDA parties to sette scores with her brother.
Ms. Padmasree recalled that Ms. Sharmila had floated the YSR Telangana Party and had declared her loyalty to Telangana. She alleged that Ms. Sharmila had passed controversial statements against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and A. Revanth Reddy in Telangana a few days before joining the Congress.
Ms. Padmasree alleged that Ms. Sharmila was not working to strengthen the party in her native Kadapa district and that many senior Congress workers were leaving the party because of her attitude.
Ms. Kruparani, who received representations from the party leaders and cadre at the meeting, said she would take their grievances to the notice of the party leadership and strive to strengthen the party.
