Actor Shruti Haasan has approached the Bombay High Court seeking protection for her personality and publicity rights. Her commercial suit alleges that her name, image and likeness were used without permission in AI-generated content, deepfake videos, fake endorsements and unauthorised merchandise. It names Indian and international entities, social media platforms and unidentified individuals. The plea alleges morphed videos and images falsely depicting romantic relationships and sexually explicit material. Haasan has sought removal of the content, an injunction against further misuse, damages and an account of profits. Justice Abhay Ahuja allowed claims partly arising outside the court’s territorial jurisdiction. The case will be mentioned for interim relief.
