# Shubman Gill misses warm-up after right ring-finger injury

India captain Shubman Gill did not take the field on Friday, the first day of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo. The BCCI said Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during practice on Thursday and was rested as a precaution. Vice-captain KL Rahul led India at the toss after Sri Lanka XI chose to bat. The BCCI medical team is monitoring Gill’s progress. India begin their two-Test series in Galle on August 15, followed by the second Test in Colombo from August 23. Jasprit Bumrah is also absent from the tour after a knee-pain relapse during rehabilitation, according to Sportstar.
