Global private equity firm Siguler Guff and other investors are exploring an exit from Baazar Retail, operator of the Baazar Kolkata chain, at a valuation of ₹4,000-5,000 crore, Livemint reports. The company runs over 250 stores across 11 states. Separately, ET Retail reports gourmet chain Modern Bazaar is in talks with Reliance Retail for a strategic stake at a valuation of ₹100-150 crore, though the promoter denies an outright sale. Modern Bazaar's revenue fell 13.6% in FY25 to ₹247.24 crore. Baazar Retail, majority-owned by Siguler Guff, O3 Alternatives and NR Group since 2018, reported FY25 revenue of ₹1,324.83 crore and a wider loss of ₹127.48 crore. Modern Bazaar, with 18 stores in Delhi-NCR and Chandigarh, faces pressure from quick commerce and pending vendor payments. Both chains seek capital to compete in India's fast-changing retail market.
