Private equity firm Silver Lake is in early talks to acquire Workday, the human-resources and financial management software company valued at roughly $43 billion, Reuters reports citing sources. Workday shares surged nearly 18 per cent after the news, pushing its market cap to about $51.1 billion. The talks are ongoing and no deal is certain. Workday has offices in Mumbai and two other Indian cities, with plans to expand to Delhi and Bengaluru. Its India headcount has more than doubled to around 1,300 employees over the past year, the Economic Times reports.
