SCCL won the exploration licence through a central government mineral auction last year. The agreement was signed on Thursday in Bengaluru by department director Rangappa and SCCL director K Venkateshwarlu. SCCL will complete exploration of the 199 sq km block in five years. The programme includes remote sensing, geological mapping, geophysical surveys, scout drilling, and sample analysis at SCCL's new laboratory in Kothagudem. A detailed exploration report will be submitted to the Karnataka mines department.
