# Siraj to lead Hyderabad in Ranji Trophy opener against Tripura 2026-10-10T15:41:55+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Mohammed Siraj will captain Hyderabad in their Ranji Trophy season opener against Tripura on Sunday, 11 October 2026, at the Gymkhana Ground in Hyderabad. The fast bowler's availability for the first two matches is a boost for the side, with Milind expected to take over in his absence. Hyderabad's batting will rely on opener Tanmay Agarwal, Rahul Singh, and others, while the bowling attack includes left-arm spinners Tanay Thyagarajan and Aniketh Reddy. Tripura, led by Manisankar Murasingh, welcome back all-rounder Mandeep Singh and feature former Hyderabad captain Hanuma Vihari. Tripura head coach Satrajit Lahiri brought the team to Hyderabad a week early after rain disrupted their pre-season plans in Agartala. Hyderabad head coach Anirudh Singh said the newly laid pitch should produce a result and the team is well prepared after practice games. The Hindu reports Hyderabad also appointed Wasim Jaffer as mentor and held a fielding and fitness camp after a high number of dropped catches last season. The Gymkhana pitches have been tuned to produce more results after a spate of home draws. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Telangana Today's coverage leads with Siraj's captaincy and the line-ups, while The Hindu emphasises behind-the-scenes changes such as Jaffer's appointment, the selection Super League, and pitch re-tuning to avoid draws. The two outlets agree on the core facts but frame the story differently: one as a straightforward season preview, the other as a report on structural improvements. The uniform facts are Siraj's availability, the Sunday start, and both coaches' comments. Neither outlet offers a critical angle, so the coverage is broadly neutral, with The Hindu providing more context on Hyderabad's pre-season preparations. Both note the season begins on 11 October 2026. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - telanganatoday.com (neutral report) Straight preview, focuses on line-ups and pitch. - thehindu.com (neutral report) Emphasises structural changes and behind-the-scenes work.
