The SIT detected specific misappropriation of funds meant for beneficiaries in seven unions, including Pulappally, Ranni, and Mananthavady, and said steps to prosecute offenders are under way. The petition was filed by M.S. Anil of Cherthala, who sought an investigation into alleged misappropriation by Mr. Natesan, N. Soman, K.K. Mahesan, and former managing directors of the Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation. The accused allegedly submitted false utilisation certificates in the names of fictitious self-help groups between 2003 and 2014 to divert welfare funds.
