The collapse occurred during heavy rainfall while seven family members were asleep. Neighbours alerted police, fire personnel and rescue teams. They recovered the victims from the debris and took 28-year-old Aman, the sole survivor, to hospital with serious injuries. The deceased were identified as Pramod Srivastava, Rita Srivastava, Nitin, Madhuri, and infants Madhav and Babu, also named Adivik.
