SoftBank has secured a two-year, $10 billion margin loan backed by its stake in OpenAI, according to its latest financial report. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Mizuho Securities, Apollo Global Funding and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking are arranging the facility, which SoftBank plans to draw this month. The borrowing will support general corporate needs and Vision Fund II-2. SoftBank must provide cash or repay early if OpenAI’s preferred-share value falls sharply. The loan follows a $40 billion bridge facility for OpenAI investments, which gained 21 additional lenders last month. SoftBank’s total OpenAI investment is expected to approach $65 billion by October, partly financed through borrowing.
