Police raided the Korea Football Association's offices in Seoul and Cheonan on Thursday as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in the 2024 appointment of Hong Myung-bo as national team coach. The probe had stalled for nearly two years but revived after public anger over South Korea's group-stage exit at the 2026 World Cup. Separately, the KFA apologised on Saturday over allegations that it provided sexual entertainment to foreign referees before and after international matches in 2011 and 2012. The association said no such practices continue and pledged reforms. Former KFA president Chung Mong-gyu resigned last month, following Hong's resignation, and both faced a parliamentary hearing in July.
