# Spain moves to replace India envoy over funds misuse allegations

Spain has begun the process to replace its ambassador to India, Juan Antonio March Pujol, after Spanish media reported allegations of financial impropriety. The Spanish Foreign Ministry sent a complaint to the country’s Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in late May. The Objective, a Spanish outlet, reported that March used embassy funds to promote concerts by a singer with no Spanish connection, and personally secured a €5,000 contribution from BLS International, an Indian visa-processing firm, for a Rajasthan event. Madrid has requested India’s agrément for Alfredo Martínez Serrano, currently ambassador to Canada, as March’s replacement.
