# Total Solar Eclipse on August 12 Will Miss India

The first total solar eclipse of 2026 will occur on August 12, with the Moon blocking the Sun along a narrow path from the Arctic to Spain. Totality will cross eastern Greenland, western Iceland, northeastern Portugal and northern Spain, reaching Spanish cities including León, Burgos and Valencia at about 8:32 pm to 8:33 pm CEST, according to Times Now News. India will not see the eclipse because the Moon’s shadow will not pass over the country. Dublin, Paris and London will experience partial coverage. The event will coincide with the Perseid meteor shower and occur near lunar perigee, when the Moon appears slightly larger. ESA plans a live broadcast from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm CEST. NDTV reports that mainland Spain’s previous total solar eclipse was in 1912.
