# Spotify to tag AI-generated artists with ‘AI Persona’ badge

Spotify will add 'AI Persona' badges to artist profiles from mid-September, the platform announced on Tuesday, aiming to tell listeners whether the artist is a real person or an AI-generated persona. The badges will appear on banners, in About sections, in Search results, and on track rows across playlists. Artists can now self-disclose if their profile represents an AI persona through Spotify for Artists. Spotify will also review profiles that appear to use photorealistic AI-generated imagery. AI Personas will be excluded from editorial and algorithmic recommendations by default unless a user follows them. Artists flagged by Spotify's review team will be notified and can appeal. The company said the badge is based on the artist's public identity, not on how the music was made.
