The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has issued operational guidelines for designated Street Food Cart Zones, aiming to organise street vending under a structured framework. In the first phase, locations include Dalgate Bund, Badamwari, JVC Bemina, Magarmal Bagh, and Rajbagh. Commissioner Fazlul Haseeb said the goal is to create clean, dignified spaces for vendors while ensuring food safety, sanitation, and traffic management. Food carts must conform to standardised designs, display FSSAI permits and price lists, and comply with hygiene and waste management rules. The guidelines follow the Street Vendors Act of 2014 and J&K rules of 2020.
