State inks MoU with Mazagon Dock for AI-based disaster detection system

(MDL) to provide various artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies for an early warning disaster detection system, and geo and life detection system.
The MDL, a PSU under the defence ministry, will provide rescue equipment, a satellite-based asset management system and an

emergency communication system

to enhance state’s emergency response and disaster preparedness.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that state govt took a significant step toward strengthening Goa’s disaster management capabilities by signing the MoU.
The initiative will ensure faster coordination, seamless communication and improved disaster resilience in Goa.

Under training and capacity building, govt officials, first responders, and local authorities will be trained in AI-based disaster detection, rescue and communication system tools, and disaster response strategies.
AI-based predictive analytics will help in better disaster planning and faster response times for incidents like floods, cyclones and landslides.
“This partnership positions Goa as a leader in AI-driven disaster management in India. The integration of advanced technology will enhance coordination and reduce risks to life and property. Goa is now moving toward a tech-enabled, disaster-resilient future, ensuring better safety for its citizens,” Sawant said.
The CM said that state govt will also launch a programme to take suggestions from the public to make Viksit Goa 2047. He said that while aiming to make Viksit Bharat 2047, govt will make sure that Goa becomes developed by 2037.
