At least 24 people were killed and over 50 injured when a suicide car bomb struck a shuttle train in Quetta, Balochistan, on Sunday. The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, saying it targeted military personnel. The train was carrying passengers from Quetta Cantonment to the city station for onward journeys to their homes before Eid. Earlier reports from officials put the death toll at 20, but provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind later confirmed the figure had risen. The explosion, from an explosive-laden minivan, hit the engine and three bogies. Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi said civilians were aboard. The blast shattered windows of nearby buildings and vehicles.
