Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday, prompting speculation about a possible BJP-SAD alliance for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The New Indian Express reports that the meeting covered Punjab issues, while details were not disclosed. Neither party has issued an official statement. Both parties have repeatedly said they will contest all 117 seats independently. The BJP and SAD were allies for 23 years before their alliance ended in September 2020 over the farm laws.
