# Director says married Akshay Kumar could not work with Priyanka Chopra in Barsaat 2026-08-25T17:22:47+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet (2 source reports) Filmmaker Suneel Darshan said Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra could not work together in the 2005 film Barsaat because Kumar was married and working together would have caused family repercussions. In a YouTube interview, Darshan said a song had already been shot with both actors, but Kumar later asked to postpone the film. ## Indian Opinion Analysis Suneel Darshan’s account places the blame for the derailed film squarely on Akshay Kumar’s marital responsibilities, framing Priyanka Chopra as the wronged professional. NDTV’s two reports carry this framing without challenge or addition, offering no alternate perspective from Kumar or Chopra. The coverage repeats the director’s past claims about a rumoured affair, foregrounding family-repercussion language that fuels speculation. A balanced reading notes that Darshan is the sole source and has a financial grievance: he lost 18 months. The question is whether any party will now respond directly. Expect no statement unless one side chooses to break silence ahead of any future project announcement that involves either star. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 1 sensationalist - ndtv.com (sensationalist) Fronts director's account blaming marital responsibility, repeats past affair rumour without balance - ndtv.com (2) This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
