The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the CBSE to consider implementing its three-language policy for Class 6 students from the 2027 academic session, instead of the current year. The court suggested allowing current Class 6 students to study three languages voluntarily if they wish. The CBSE had earlier rejected a one-time exemption, arguing it would create learning gaps and lead to demands from every subsequent batch. The CBSE, through Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, told the bench it would consider the suggestion and return on September 23.
