# Supreme Court exonerates Manmohan Singh in coal block case

The Supreme Court has given a complete posthumous clean chit to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the Talabira-II coal block allocation case in Odisha. A special court had issued summonses to Singh and others in 2015, but the Supreme Court stayed proceedings and later delivered the final verdict clearing him. Shiv Sena (UBT) welcomed the verdict and demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamana, the party called Singh 'Mr Clean' and said he never needed judicial validation to prove his integrity. It criticised the 20-year delay in the case and described the allegations as politically motivated.
