# Supreme Court judge warns law students on social media clips

Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta and Gujarat High Court Justice Vaibhavi Nanavati on Wednesday cautioned newly enrolled law students at Parul University against relying on social media clips to understand judicial observations. Speaking at Aarambh 2026, the university's orientation programme, Justice Mehta said courts decide cases based on evidence and legal principles, not viral video snippets. Justice Nanavati warned that legal professionals build reputation through knowledge and conduct, not digital visibility. On artificial intelligence in law, Justice Nanavati said AI can aid research but adjudication must remain rooted in human judgement and empathy. The event also felicitated graduates who qualified the All India Bar Examination. Parul University President Dr Devanshu Patel told students: 'A lawyer wants to win, and a great lawyer wants justice to win.'
