# Supreme Court Refuses to Suspend Narayan Sai’s Life Sentence

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to suspend the life sentence of self-styled godman Asaram's son, Narayan Sai, in a 2013 rape case. It asked the Gujarat High Court to decide his appeal against conviction within three months. Sai was sentenced to life imprisonment in April 2019 by a Surat court. The high court earlier rejected his suspension plea, observing that since 2019 he had not cooperated in the appeal hearing and instead adopted delaying tactics. He has served 11 years in jail.
