# Supreme Court Dismisses Plea Seeking FIR Against Yashwant Varma

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed advocate Ghanshyam Upadhyay’s plea seeking an FIR and court-monitored SIT probe against former Allahabad High Court judge Yashwant Varma over alleged cash found after a fire at his Delhi residence in March 2025. Hindustan Times reports that a bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe called the petition an attempt at “cheap publicity”. Upadhyay said he had complained to the CBI, Delhi Police and ED on June 2, but no FIR followed. Varma resigned in April while impeachment proceedings were pending and has denied knowledge or ownership of the cash.
