# TTFI challenges government suspension, cites Olympic autonomy

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) on Thursday asked the Sports Ministry to reconsider its suspension of the federation's recognition, warning that the move could breach the autonomy protected by the Olympic Charter. The Ministry withdrew recognition on August 12, citing governance failures including delayed elections, and asked the IOA to form an ad-hoc committee. TTFI president Meghna Ahlawat said the federation had already addressed those issues before the show-cause notice was issued in June, and that external administration would violate Rules 27 and 28 of the Olympic Charter. The federation also pointed to India's recent table tennis performances as proof of effective functioning. TTFI has had internal strife: in January it suspended secretary general Kamlesh Mehta over alleged financial irregularities, but the Delhi High Court later quashed that suspension.
