Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated HANDTEX 2026, along with Co-optex’s Vetri Thari special sale and a commercial sales exhibition, at Kalaivanar Arangam on Friday to mark National Handloom Day. He distributed financial assistance totalling ₹22.25 lakh to 11 weavers and handed out certificates of appreciation, an official release said. National Handloom Day is observed annually on August 7, commemorating the launch of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905.
