# Tamil Nadu unity on delimitation as 37 MPs skip Vijay meet

Chief Minister Vijay convened a meeting of Tamil Nadu MPs on Saturday to oppose any fresh delimitation bill, but 37 of the state's 57 MPs stayed away. The DMK and AIADMK led the boycott, calling the meeting a diversion from the Cauvery dispute. The 20 attending MPs, from the Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI(M), MDMK and IUML, passed a resolution demanding that Parliament be frozen at 543 seats and Tamil Nadu retain its 39 Lok Sabha seats. DMK MP Kanimozhi said her party wants a fair delimitation that protects the state's representation, not a blanket rejection.
