In a suo motu statement to the Assembly on August 10, he said the state's financial position was not healthy, but the welfare of farmers was prioritised. The incentive for fine paddy varieties will be ₹289 per quintal on top of the MSP, taking the total to ₹2,750. For common paddy, the incentive is ₹159 per quintal, making the total ₹2,600. Procurement begins in September. For sugarcane, the special incentive has been raised to ₹709.50 per tonne, on top of the Union government's ₹3,290.50 per tonne, bringing the total price to ₹4,000 per tonne. The Chief Minister noted the incentive for paddy had increased by ₹156 in the last five years, but is now up by ₹156 in a single year. Assembly Speaker J.C.D.
