# Tamil Nadu sets up panel to pick temple trustees

The Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department has constituted a state-level committee to screen and shortlist candidates for non-hereditary trustee posts in temples with annual incomes above Rs 10 lakh. The committee will be headed by Thirugnana Balaya Swamigal of the Bommapuram Aadheenam, with retired district judge K. Ramanathan as vice-president. Members include Archana Kalpathi Agoram, former IAS officer P.R. Sampath, T. Velmurugan, M. Sumathi, and the HR&CE Commissioner. The order, issued by Secretary J. Kumaragurubaran, replaces an earlier committee whose term ended. Minister for HR&CE Ramesh held an online discussion with religious heads about upcoming assembly announcements.
