# Tanishaa Mukerji slams ‘elitist Hindus’ with ‘British hangover’ 2026-10-11T12:36:13+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 3 independent outlets Actress Tanishaa Mukerji on Sunday, 11 October, posted on X that she is ‘truly shocked by the blind hate of some supposedly well-educated elitist Hindus’ who she said live with a ‘complete British hangover’. She wrote: ‘If u love London and America so much. Pls leave! We don’t want u here trying to put us down!’ The Hindustan Times and Odisha TV report she did not give context linking her post to the ongoing protests against the Chief Election Commissioner. The Hans India reports her post appeared amid a row over Elon Musk’s complaint that Starlink’s entry into India had been blocked at the behest of an Indian billionaire. Mukerji also criticised the labels ‘andhbhakt’ and ‘woke’, arguing that ‘things should be logical, factual’ and that a society ruled by laws is the way to stay safe. ## Indian Opinion Analysis All three outlets report the same X post from Tanishaa Mukerji, but each gives it a different trigger. The Hans India links it to Elon Musk’s Starlink dispute and an Indian billionaire, a concrete commercial context. Hindustan Times and Odisha TV tie the post to the broader anti-government protests and the CEC issue, placing it in a political frame. Odisha TV also adds a preface on the ridicule of Hindu traditions, framing the actress as defending faith. A reader should note that Mukerji herself named no event, the context each outlet supplies is editorial choice. The only concrete next step mentioned is the Durga Puja event on 11 October at SNDT Ground in Juhu. ## Coverage Coverage: 3 sources, 3 neutral - hindustantimes.com (neutral report) Leads with Mukerji's quote, adds context of CEC protests - thehansindia.com (neutral report) Frames post around Elon Musk's Starlink dispute - odishatv.in (neutral report) Prefaces post with defence of Hinduism against mockery This brief was synthesised by AI from the 3 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
