Tanvi Sharma defeated compatriot Shriyanshi Valishetty 21-16, 17-21, 21-13 in 57 minutes to reach the Korea Masters quarterfinals in Asan on Thursday. The 17-year-old, ranked world No. 30 after winning the Taipei Open, will meet fellow Indian Rakshitha Ramraj, who beat Japan’s Manami Suizu 22-20, 21-10. Ashmita Chaliha also advanced after defeating South Korea’s Kim Min Ji 21-17, 21-6. She faces Japan’s top seed Hina Akechi next. India’s men’s doubles pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy beat South Korea’s Kim Young Hyuk and Shin Tae Yang 21-18, 21-19. India’s other entries in women’s singles, mixed doubles and women’s doubles lost, while the men’s singles campaign had ended in the first round.
