Tanzid Hasan Tamim became the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test century on Australian soil, hitting 101 off 197 balls on the second day of the first Test in Darwin. Bangladesh reached 286 for three at tea, leading by 88 after Australia were bowled out for 198 on day one. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was unbeaten on 79. Fast bowler Hasan Mahmud earlier took six for 55, his career-best, to rattle the hosts. Only Steve Smith, with 71, offered resistance. Tanzid’s knock was also Bangladesh’s first Test hundred away from home since 2022.
