Tata Sons has scheduled its 108th annual general meeting for August 18, but the meeting may not take place because of a dispute over quorum requirements. The issue follows Maharashtra Charity Commission action restricting the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, whose authorised representative is required under Tata Sons’ Articles of Association along with one from the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust. The AGM agenda includes N Chandrasekaran’s reappointment as a director, though a vote is considered unlikely but possible. His term as executive chairman runs until February 2027. A failed meeting could delay dividends, including about Rs 1,731 crore paid to Tata Trusts and an estimated Rs 482 crore to the Shapoorji Pallonji group in FY25. Tata Sons may issue a fresh notice and seek regulatory or tribunal intervention if needed.
