# Tata Group stocks lose Rs 46,000 crore after chairman steps down

Tata Group stocks plunged up to 5.95 per cent on Wednesday, wiping out about Rs 46,000 crore in market value, after Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran said he will not seek reappointment when his current term ends in February 2027. Tata Consultancy Services fell as much as 5.95 per cent to hit an intraday low of Rs 2,300.10 on the NSE, while Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Power and other group stocks also closed lower. Broader markets declined for a second day, with the Sensex falling 188 points to 77,966.35 and the Nifty dropping 36 points to 24,435.95, as elevated crude oil prices, Brent crude trading near $89 a barrel, added to investor caution.
