Tata Trusts has accepted N. Chandrasekaran’s decision not to seek reappointment as chairman of Tata Sons when his term ends on February 20, 2027. The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), which holds 27.9% in Tata Sons, has passed a resolution to set up a selection committee to recommend a successor, according to a statement. However, Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), one of the two principal trusts required to jointly nominate three members to the search panel, is under restrictions imposed by the Charity Commissioner. Tata Trusts said SRTT cannot participate in meetings due to the freeze, so no joint representative can be elected for the upcoming annual general meeting. The Trusts is considering an urgent legal move to enable SRTT's participation. Chandrasekaran has urged staff to ignore speculation and conspiracy theories.
