Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), holding 27.98% of Tata Sons, passed a resolution on Thursday to set up a selection committee for N Chandrasekaran’s successor. Chandrasekaran emailed his decision not to seek reappointment beyond February 2027 to nominee directors Noel Tata and Venu Srinivasan on August 12. The process is stalled because Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT), with 23.56% stake, cannot hold meetings due to a Maharashtra charity commissioner order dated May 15. Under Tata Sons’ articles, a five-member panel requires SDTT and SRTT to jointly nominate three members. SRTT has requested the commissioner to lift the order, but no response has come. The Hindu reports that trusts owning 65.9% of Tata Sons back a "smooth transition".
