# Odisha Teacher Dies After Flagpole Touches Power Line

A 32-year-old physical education teacher, Priyabrata Behera, died after an iron flagpole touched an overhead low-tension power line at Royal High School in Maitapur, Balasore, on Saturday. Police said Behera and another staff member were carrying the pole around 8am when they lost balance. Doctors at a Bhadrak hospital declared him dead on arrival. Three students suffered electric shocks and were taken to Simulia Community Health Centre. Simulia police have registered a case of unnatural death and said the incident appeared prima facie to be accidental, while an investigation will follow. Odisha TV reported that Behera’s father said his son had been unwilling to attend school but was called in. Hindustan Times also reported a separate electrocution death in Nabarangpur involving a district office driver carrying an iron pole.
