Justice NV Shravan Kumar ruled that the acquisition may continue strictly according to law while questions of legality and procedural compliance will be examined later. Eight petitioners, mostly shop and property owners, had argued that the government was acquiring more land from one side of the road and offering compensation as low as Rs 26,000-81,000 per square yard against market rates of Rs 3-4 lakh. HAML said the alignment was based on the city master plan and surveys, and that over 300 of the 357 affected owners had accepted compensation.
