# Telangana raids seize over 1,000 bags of ration rice

Telangana's Civil Supplies Enforcement Task Force has seized more than 1,000 bags of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice in two separate raids this month. Early on August 14, officials found 98 bags of ration rice in a Saidabad godown, allegedly stored illegally by Harish Reddy for transport to other states. Three nights later, on August 17, the same task force raided a godown belonging to AD Manufacturers in Shamirpet mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, and recovered around 1,000 bags of PDS rice along with 500 empty gunny bags. Two empty vehicles were also found at the site. The task force acted on directions from Civil Supplies Chief Vigilance Officer C Shashidhar Raju. The seized rice from the first raid has been deposited at Saidabad police station. At the Shamirpet godown, a police picket has been deployed to prevent any movement of stock. The Civil Supplies authorities are conducting further verification to trace the source of the rice and identify all those involved in the illegal storage and diversion.
