# Apple Restores Telegram After Removing It Over Abuse Material

Apple briefly removed Telegram from its App Store after finding child sexual abuse material that violated its guidelines, then restored the messaging app after Telegram removed the content and banned the user who posted it, the company said. The Hindu reports that Telegram CEO Pavel Durov blamed a “takedown extortionist”, alleging an attacker planted AI-modified illegal content by editing an old message in a public group. Durov said the attacker used the material to pressure group owners and trigger an Apple takedown. He also criticised Apple for removing Telegram before contacting the company.
