# Telugu director Pavan Sadineni arrested in cheating case 2026-08-26T21:35:46+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Pavan Sadineni, the director of the upcoming film Akasamlo Oka Tara starring Dulquer Salmaan, has been arrested in a cheating case. Golconda Police arrested him following a complaint filed by an aspiring actress, who alleged that Sadineni had promised to marry her but failed to keep his word after a long live-in relationship. Police sent the director to judicial remand after conducting an inquiry. The arrest occurred around ten days ago but only came to light on Wednesday when crime reporters confirmed the development with police. Sadineni made his directorial debut with Prema Ishq Kaadhal and earlier directed Senapathi and the web series Daya. The arrest has raised questions about post-production work on Akasamlo Oka Tara, which is backed by producer Swapna Dutt's banner Swapna Cinemas in association with Geetha Arts. Sadineni recently ventured into production with the film Gayapadda Simham. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The case falls under Section 417 (cheating) and related provisions of the IPC for promise of marriage based on deception, which courts have consistently ruled as punishable when the promise was made with no intention of fulfilment. The Telugu film industry has seen several such disputes in the past, but a director's arrest mid-production is rarer and puts a project of this scale in uncertainty. Swapna Cinemas and Geetha Arts must now decide whether to continue with Sadineni or bring in a replacement to complete the film's post-production. Dulquer Salmaan's schedule is another variable: any delay could push the release beyond the planned window. ## Coverage - cinemaexpress.com Leads with arrest fact, attributes allegations to complainant, no editorialising.
